A watercolor painting done soon after a wonderful trip to Paris with my daughter and son-in-law.
We even did sketching on the streets in Montmartre. What great memories!

"Fringed Hibiscus"

"Fringed Hibiscus"

9 x 12 Watercolor

$85

People are always bringing me specimen flowers and I love it! I always want to paint them, but often they
are blooms that only last one day. So I have to "get on it" and paint like mad! Both the Fringed Hibiscus and the Passion Vine bloom only last one day. However the buds hanging down on the Hibiscus bloomed after the first one dropped, so I had a few days to work on it.

"Pink Hydrangeas Still Life"

"Pink Hydrangeas Still Life"

12 x 12 Oil on Stretched Canvas

$125

This is a photo of 2/3's of this painting, which is 12 by 12 inches square. I cut three huge blooms of a hydrangea plant  and put them in a vintage pottery vase with a little pottery pitcher nestled up to them. For the background I used a piece of upholstery cloth with muted flowers on it, picking up my pinks and blues. Hydrangeas are hard to paint because they are a bunch of little blooms all together, even overlapping, but I am always up for a challenge. Hope you like it! Your comments are appreciated.

"The Garden Chair"

"The Garden Chair"

8 x 10 Acrylic on Stretched Canvas

$75

It's the time of year to be planting and working in the garden, so I couldn't resist painting an old chair turned into a planter! I have made some of these before using moss to line  the chair and they are really whimsical and cute...a fun subject for a painting.

"Quiet Time in the Garden"

"Quiet Time in the Garden"

11 x 14 Egg Tempera on Panel

$100

Egg tempera is fun to do, although quite different from watercolors or acrylics or oils. It is egg
yolk mixed with pigment and is a very old and enduring medium. To apply the paint, it is best to work in
layers, sort of building the painting layer by layer, as it is transparent.  When completely dry, it is very hard. Click on this to see it closer.
